The men, Raymond Newsome, 43, and Orlando Ellis, 27, both of Danbury, and Dylan Montana Griffing, 24, of New Milford, were arrested Thursday, May 24, following the investigation initiated after the Danbury Police Department received citizen's complaints regarding Ellis' illegal activity, said Lt. Mark Williams.
During the investigation, investigators witnessed Ellis engage in several suspected drug deals, which led to the arrest of Griffing, Williams said.
Shortly after Griffing's arrest, investigators saw Newsome enter the driveway to Ellis' home and park. When Ellis entered Newsome’s parked car investigators took the opportunity to approach the car and take control of Ellis. In doing so, they discovered Ellis and Newsome were engaged in a suspected drug transaction, he said.
During a search, investigators uncovered a substantial amount of illegal drugs and several thousand dollars in cash, Williams said.
Ellis and Newsome were arrested and charged with numerous counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, possession with 1,500 of a school and other charges. Griffing was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
After posting a $100,000 bond, Newsome was released from the police department pending a future court appearance. Unable to post a $100,000 bond, Ellis was held at the police department and appeared in court on Friday.
